Ken Combs Training Group

Our group offers:

  • A low-cost training option for the Triple Crown of Running series and/or the Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon or full marathon
  • Customized training plans
  • Organized Saturday group long runs followed by light refreshments

Dates & Times

Training schedules will be provided online and at the first meeting. Saturday runs will be with the group at Ken Combs Running Store; Tuesday nights will meet at Waggner High school for either interval sessions or group runs, depending on the runner's experience level.

Participants will receive a goodie bag after the first Saturday run on Jan. 9.

Members of the training group receive 15% off shoes and 20% off apparel for the duration of the group.

Training groups:

  • Beginners — runners and walkers just starting out, with little current weekly mileage base. Perfect for those who are interested mainly in the spring races.
  • Intermediate — recreational runners with a current base of 10-15 miles per week and who have run most of the race distances before.
  • Experienced — runners who maintain at least 15 miles per week, who have completed previous half-marathons and are looking to improve.
